This is by far my favorite way to travel to Culebra, Vieques, and Icacos! If you’re looking for the perfect day excursion, East Island Excursions is a must-have on your Puerto Rico itinerary.

Why Choose East Island Excursions? Here are 3 reasons why…
- Convenience: Forget the hassle of waking up early to get a ferry ticket to Culebra or Vieques. With East Island Excursions, you simply show up, and everything is handled for you. It’s all included in the price you pay, and it’s worth every penny.
- Personal Experience: I’ve used East Island Excursions multiple times and even recommend them in my Puerto Rico digital product, which you can find here. Their tours are always convenient, well-organized, and staffed by the friendliest crew.
- Time-Saving: Time is the most valuable thing you have, especially on vacation. Why stress over logistics when there’s already a tour that handles it all for you? That’s why I’ll keep coming back to East Island Excursions.
My Day Trip to Vieques
Here’s how my recent trip to Vieques went, step-by-step:
Step 1: Make Your Reservation
Booking is the most crucial step. Tours fill up quickly, so reserve your spot early to secure your preferred date and time. You can make your reservation here.
Step 2: Confirmation and Waiver
Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Be sure to sign the waiver online—it’s quick and easy!
Step 3: Pack Your Essentials
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Beach towel
- Sunscreen
- Hat and sunglasses
- Bathing suit (wear it ahead of time)
- Extra change of clothes (I usually leave mine in the car)
- A great attitude and readiness to have fun!
Getting There
The check-in spot is in Fajardo, about a 45-minute to 1-hour drive from San Juan. The drive is straightforward, but make sure to leave ample time if it’s your first visit. Once you arrive at the port, staff will guide you to parking and direct you to the check-in area. Look for signs like the one above.
After check-in, you’ll be notified when it’s time to board your catamaran. Simple as that!
What to Expect on the Catamaran
The boat trip lasts approximately 5 hours. Here’s what’s included:
- Snorkeling: Gear is provided, and the crew will guide you if needed.
- Beach Time: Relax on the pristine beaches or explore at your own pace (within the allotted time).
- Food and Drinks: Enjoy a delicious lunch, snacks, adult beverages, water, and sodas.
East Island Excursions truly makes everything seamless and enjoyable. I’d give them 5 stars for making trips to Culebra, Vieques, and Icacos easy and unforgettable!
