Imagine trading the chaos of the city for a peaceful mountain escape. That is exactly what Naranjito, Puerto Rico felt like for me.
For my birthday this year, I had one request: relax.
With our wedding, our honeymoon, and what feels like nonstop events, I really just wanted time to slow down, reset, and breathe a little. Naranjito did not disappoint.
I’ve also been wanting to explore more unique stays around Puerto Rico, especially dome glamping experiences, and this one was such a cute find for a mountain Airbnb getaway in Puerto Rico.
Now, full disclosure… lizards absolutely will make an appearance. You are basically stepping into their home in the mountains of Naranjito, Puerto Rico, so just know that upfront. But honestly? It was part of the experience.
Our Dome Glamping Stay in Naranjito, Puerto Rico 10000/10
The dome itself was beautifully equipped. The bathroom was spacious, the kitchen was gorgeous, and there was even an outdoor dining area under string lights that made everything feel extra cozy at night.
And of course, the coquí soundtrack was nonstop. Personally, I loved it. It felt like nature’s own playlist without ever needing to press play.
If you are someone who truly wants to unplug, this is such a good option for glamping in Puerto Rico!
During our stay, we also checked out two local spots… one coffee shop and one dinner spot in the Naranjito area… and both were worth it. I’ll list those below because y’all know I love sharing local gems whenever I can.
- Coffee shop (pictured above): Colmado & Cafe El Pocito Dulce Express, honestly I loved the ambiance and the coffee & match were to die for!
- Dinner spot (pictured below): Atirantado, this place surprised me becuase not only was the service awesome from the beginning there is a little golf cart that will give you a ride to the top, but the views are stunning, the food was delcious but the beverage was what got me. The bar service is OUTSTANDING!

But honestly, some of my favorite moments were the ones spent right at the dome.
After exploring, coming back to soak in the hot tub under the stars was easily one of the best parts of the entire trip. There is just something about being in the mountains of Puerto Rico, surrounded by peace and quiet, looking up at the night sky… it felt magical.
And of course, having Simba and Nala (my pups) there made the experience even sweeter. Since it’s pet friendly, they got to enjoy the adventure too, which made it feel even more special for our little family. Just be mindful when outdoors, especially around frogs or wildlife, since some can be harmful to dogs.
Overall, this trip was exactly what I needed… peace, quiet, nature, and a chance to truly recharge.
If you’re looking for a different side of Puerto Rico beyond beaches and city life, Naranjito is definitely worth considering. Between the mountain views, unique dome glamping experience, cozy nights under the stars, and pet-friendly touches, it was the kind of peaceful escape that reminded me how important it is to slow down sometimes.
Things to Know Before You Go (Naranjito, Puerto Rico Dome Stay Checklist)
Here’s everything I wish I knew before booking this mountain getaway:
☐ Roads are steep and winding (mountain driving in Naranjito is no joke)
☐ Rent a Jeep or SUV if possible for easier access
☐ Take motion sickness medicine if you get car sick
☐ No Uber Eats or DoorDash in the area (plan ahead for food)
☐ Bring groceries or snacks if you plan to stay in the dome
☐ Perfect place to unplug and disconnect from city life
☐ Nighttime is peaceful with the sound of the coquí frogs
☐ Hot tub + stargazing is a must-do experience
☐ Pet friendly, but watch pets around wildlife outdoors
